Data mining reveals new Pokmon and a Halloween event for ‘Pokmon Go’

Get ready for the next generation of Pokémon in Pokémon Go. Video game sleuths from the group known as the Silph Road uncovered a whole bunch of hidden data added to Pokémon Go in its latest update. The intel suggests that the third generation of Pokémon may be coming to the game soon, along with some Halloween content.

The latest Pokémon Go data mine includes sound files for Pokémon from Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald (a.k.a. gen III), a new badge labeled gen III, a new Halloween loading page, some Halloween music, and files that imply there may be a Halloween event and Halloween variants of some Pokémon.

Here’s the new Pokémon Go loading page, which includes gen III ghost-type Pokémon Banette, Shuppet, Dusclops, and Duskull,  among some other Pokémon from earlier generations.

The post on the Silph Road Reddit that outlines the findings also includes some other data discoveries, including some small tweaks and fixes, and new anti-cheating measures.

Unfortunately we don’t know exactly when the new features will go live, which Pokémon will have Halloween variants, or what the Halloween event actually entails … but with Oct. 31 just a couple weeks away, we probably won’t have to wait long to find out.
