Everything you’ve known is a lie.
Well, maybe just everything you knew about T-Pain’s early hits “Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin)” and his verse on DJ Khaled’s “All I Do Is Win.” The auto-tune god rectified some classic lyric mistakes on Wednesday.
First, he broke down the lyrics to the 2007 track “Buy U a Drank.” In an early morning tweet, explaining that the “ooh wee” people often sing along with in the song is actually an elongated “and then.”
If you try really hard you can kinda hear it, but apparently it doesn’t matter too much to him whether or not you get it right. “Really it’s whatever you want it to be just enjoy the song however you hear it,” the singer tweeted. “I just appreciate you listening.”
It’s “and then” not “ooh wee” but really it’s whatever you want it to be just enjoy the song however you hear it. I just appreciate you listening. #BuyUADrank #THANX

But clearly it does matter a little bit to him because he didn’t stop there. Later in the afternoon, he took to Twitter to clarify another lyric.
“I don’t wanna throw another wrench in your childhood but also it’s ‘Everybody hands go UP……… and they stay there……. AND THEY SAY YEAH,'” he nonchalantly tweeted, upending almost a decade’s worth of memories tied to his part of DJ Khaled’s “All I Do Is Win.”
“Sorry…I’m from Tallahassee bro. That’s just how some of us talk,” he explained.

Safe to say, people had various thoughts ranging from shocked to skeptical regarding the unexpected music history lesson.

Yes, this means that Diana Ross herself has been singing the wrong words all along, but we have a feeling T-Pain isn’t going to mind that oversight too much. As for the rest of you: you’ve been officially warned.
